Man, Erik — thank you! I think about this all the time. I wrestle with it. Travel is wasteful. But what are we here for if not to be curious? How can we relate to our fellow man without seeing the bed upon which he lays his head? Travel, wasteful in resources as it is, is one expenditure which connects humanity. Money can’t but happiness, but perhaps — via travel — it can buy empathy.
